ROUNDTABLES

The roundtables brought together the exhibiting architects to discuss specific themes. Several roundtables, each lasting half a day, took place behind closed doors in the Multimedia Library; these were chaired by several moderators who worked as critics writing for international publications. On Friday, April 16th, these roundtables have been concluded by a public summary presented by the rapporteur, Dominique Lyon, preceding the introduction of the Contracting Authorities Forum.

The roundtable themes

1. The transformation of procedures: space and technology An introduction to the new 3D architectural representations.
   
   
2. The architect and the diversification of skills Increasingly diversified job skills are required from architects: economist, computer scientist, landscape architect, etc.
   
   
3. Cities and new contextualism Cities are becoming standardised at a global level. Urbanism and housing issues must be reassessed with local methods in mind and a global understanding of such phenomena.
   
   
4. The procedures field : the extended programme The architect, who is often deprived of programme-elaboration opportunities, nonetheless has the required expertise to intervene in new programmes.
   
   
5. The relationship from the order standpoint: new strategies to approaching projects Architects must assert their expertise and diagnostic abilities. The logical bases underlying the order must be reviewed.

Moderators

As active mediators helping to organise the debates, the moderators have been responsible for drawing up a summary of the discussions, to be presented by the rapporteur at the time of the Contracting Authorities Forum.
