By
organising "Archilab" alongside the Centre Region FRAC, (Centre Region Contemporary
Art Fund Collection) the City of Orléans is substantiating its interest
in the most creative research undertaken in architecture. Over one hundred
projects will be displayed, with over ten countries represented and over
thirty architects taking part; they will gather to discuss and debate with
one another, as well as with contracting authorities and local-administration
heads. Over the past several years, architects have witnessed the conditions
under which they practise become increasingly complex, from order procedures
to actual building. The development of new technologies and the appearance
of new programmes will prompt them to rethink the way in which their architectural
projects fit into the urban environment. "Archilab" is an opportunity for
us to investigate contemporary architectural activity, its projects, debates,
and underlying issues. |
