An exhibition, on the Military Supplies site in Orléans

In the heart of Orléans the Military Supplies site will accommodate ArchiLab 2000 in an area of almost 16,000 square feet. The 30 teams of architects selected for this second conference will be invited to present a choice of projects, with a clear urban emphasis, using drawings, maquettes, videos, etc., in an exhibition area of 325 square feet.

In this way, a hundred or so projects will be on view, all of them aiming at offering the very best tools for understanding the language of architects. In a markedly pluralist spirit, representing the major trends in contemporary architecture, the ArchiLab exhibition is undeniably a venue of national and international reference and importance.

ArchiLab is thus a place for viewing and a forum for preparing different approaches. As with ArchiLab 1999, there will be a diverse range of research trends, be they minimalist, focusing on cyberspace, developing new forms of contextualism and experiments to do with engineering, "poor" types of architecture and new urban tectonics, and even research into topology, all with an obvious concern for a kind of pluralism which, alone, will be capable of galvanizing and legitimizing the conference as a venue for discussion, meetings, and comparing ideas.
