(SP) | The Madrid agency Cero9 was opened in 1997 by Cristina Diaz Moreno and Efrén Garcia Grinda, both a graduate of the Escuela Tecnica Superior de Arquitectura of Madrid, and for the second of the Bartlett School. The works of these two young architects, who have made a name for themselves in a very large number of international competitions, and have frequently published and exhibited (Venice Biennale, 2000), show a great interest in the issue of housing and the urban habitat, and illustrate this interest in an original and radical way. Cristina Diaz Moreno and Efrén Garcia Grinda are well aware of the present-day problems and, above all, the changes in the architect's profession, and have deliberately organized Cero9 around an open-minded and cross-disciplinary praxis, capable of conceiving its references beyond the strict context of architecture, and permitting specific multidisciplinary joint projects. They regard architecture as being basically inseparable from its environment, in the broadest sense of the word, and strive, in their projects, to develop and intensify the relationships (spatial, temporal, ecological, etc.) between the two. |
