(F) | Manuelle Gautrand set up her agency in Lyons in 1991. In 1992 she won the Albums de la jeune Architecture prize, and set up shop in Paris the following year. As an experienced builder of a large number of tertiary units and buildings, she was selected for the Monitor prize for a first work in 1994, and for the international Dupont Benedictus prize in 1999. Last year she was awarded the A.MO. 2000 "architecture and work places" prize. Manuelle Gautrand is currently working for the French Electricity Company [EDF] on the preparation of specifications designed for project managers and developers, covering the incorporation of qualitative environmental criteria in the construction of housing projects. The aim is to lend an ecological modernity (controlling the various forms of energy...) to projects destined not to remain at a purely experimental stage, and at the same time let them retain a certain flexibility and a certain aesthetic. These are also the challenges here for the project involving 110 "green" housing units designed for a private contractor in Rennes. At the same time, Manuelle Gautrand has a teaching career at the Ecole Spéciale d'Architecture, and at the Paris-la-Seine school. |
