Zbigniew Oksiuta is developing a body of creative and research work situated on the borderline between art and architecture, while at the same time studying the future of architecture and a new type of habitat. His installations switch between the scale of the object, the human scale, and the scale of the place. They interfere with the public place: an exhibition space (6699, Kunstraum Fuhrwerkswaage, in Cologne in 1999); an urban space designed like a promenade (Urbaninstallation 5. 2x/92, BBK, Rheinpromenade, in Cologne in 1992), or are incorporated within a relation of direct influence to the place (Art Units, Kunsthalle, Kunstverein, Cologne, 1999/2002). Spatium Gelatum(2001- 2003), developed in collaboration with scientific institutes, is oriented towards macrobiology, weightlessness, the physics of fluids, and the study of molecular transformations in everyday life cooking, and tries to introduce a new biological system applied to spatial forms. At present, Spatium Gelatumproject involves research into new methods of creating polymorphous, multiple forms and dynamic spaces, with the main focus on physical phenomena in liquids. In tandem with his research, Zbigniew Oksiuta produces and directs films: Architecture now, in 2000, Isopycnic Systems, in 2001, and Mesogloea in 2003. His work has been regularly exhibited over the past twenty years in Germany and Poland.
